St. Mary's Athletics is proud of our outstanding coaching staff. Over just the last ten years our dedicated coaches have earned over 25 league Coach of the Year awards in addition to three Oregon State Coach of the Year honors.
St. Mary's teams are consistently competitive. In each of the last two years, 13 of our 16 varsity teams were represented in the OSAA State Championships!
St. Mary's Athletics is also proud of the outstanding academic accomplishments of our athletes. In each of the last two years, 13 of our 16 varsity teams were ranked in the Top 10 in the OSAA/Dairy Farmer's Academic All-State Standings.
St. Mary's is also proud to be the 2007 and 2008 Oregonian Cup Award Champions! This award goes to the school earning the most points in the state for success in Academics, Athletics, Activities, and Sportsmanship. For more information, follow this link: OSAA - The Oregonian Cup

James Joy enters his fifth year as the Athletic Director at St. Mary's while in his 15th year overall with the Crusaders.
Joy first started with St. Mary's in the '93-'94 school year as a volunteer assistant with the girls basketball team. Since then, he has been the head coach or assisted with volleyball, basketball, track & field, softball, tennis and golf.
Joy has had a distinguished coaching career - earning a total of eight Conference Coach of the Year awards in volleyball (6) and golf (2). In addition, he was named the 2000 Oregon State Volleyball Coach of the Year.
As an Athletic Director, Joy has quickly and successfully guided the athletic program to new levels - including adding programs, increasing participation in programs, and improving facilities and equipment. Joy has served as the Southern Cascade League President, Treasurer and League Representative. He has also been named Southern Cascade League Athletic Director of the Year three times.
