The Confucius Classroom of St. Mary's School is pleased to offer two 30-week courses in beginning Mandarin for both adults and children. Classes will be held at St. Mary's School, 816 Black Oak Drive, Medford, Oregon 97504.
Beginning Mandarin (adults)

This class will meet in room 115 on Monday evenings from 6:30 - 8:30 pm, beginning on October 5, 2009. Please see the schedule below for the full calendar. Class size is limited to 30 students, and the course is open to ages 13-adult. The cost of the class is $225 and includes course materials as well as access to the St. Mary's Confucius Classroom Library with over 5,000 volumes of Chinese literature and texts.
This course assumes no previous experience in Mandarin and will begin with the basics of pronunciation, tones, pinyin, and simple Chinese characters.
The goal of the class is to achieve a familiarity with the basics of the language and learn some common conversational skills. Ms. Zhagang Frisbee, the instructor, is currently one of the St. Mary's Mandarin teachers.
Schedule:
Monday evenings from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.

This class will meet in room 115 on Saturdays from 2:45 - 4:15 pm, beginning October 3, 2009. Class size is limited to 15 students. The cost of the class is $30 per month and includes course materials as well as access to the St. Mary's Confucius Classroom Library with over 5,000 volumes of Chinese literature and texts.

Adult Mandarin II

This class will meet in room 115 on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, beginning on October 6, 2009. Please see the schedule below for the full calendar. Class size is limited to 30 students, and the course is open to ages 13-adult.
This course builds upon the language skills acquired in Level I. Level II will double your vocabulary and grammatical structures while increasing your spoken proficiency exponentially. Upon completion of a Level II, you will be able to engage in fuller conversations involving yourself, your family, daily activities, interests and personal preferences.
