College Corner

Fit. A word heard time and again in the college search and application process. At St. Mary’s, we encourage all of our students to pursue higher education, which is why we provide advising so that each student can find the right fit.

We help students find programs that meet their needs academically, socially, and financially. We recognize that there are many factors that go into the decision making process and we help students carefully consider their options.

We meet with students and parents throughout their time at St. Mary's, including presentations in classes and evening events. Beginning in their Junior year, students meet individually with their counselor. During their Senior year, students meet as often as necessary with their counselor. Additionally, Juniors may take a College Seminar class to aid them in the college decision process and Seniors may take a College Writing class to facilitate writing their application essays. Students at any grade level are welcome to schedule an appointment to speak with a counselor at any time.

Students and parents are welcome to talk to Ms. Klecan, the Director of College Counseling, or Mrs. Ritter, whose emphasis is College Counseling for International Students.

Contact Lesley Klecan, Director of College Counseling, with any questions. (lklecan@smschool.us)

Key Information

For College Reps

Thank you for taking a closer look at St. Mary's School. We pride ourselves on offering a rich curriculum that helps students learn how to think, rather than what to think. Our teachers are invested in offering a growth mindset environment, utilizing our new mod system school year. We do not offer honors classes, as most of our classes are taught at an advanced level. Whether a freshman reading the Beowulf in an English course titled, "Where There be Dragons" or a senior opting to do an internship in a law firm, students at St. Mary's are engaged in their learning and in their community.

School visits may be scheduled from 10-11 and 12-2 daily. Please contact Lesley Klecan for more information (lklecan@smschool.us).
