2012 China Summer Bridge Trip
What is it?
The China Summer Bridge Trip is an educational and touristic trip to China partially subsidized by Hanban, a branch of the Chinese Ministry of Education. It is meant to introduce American high school students to China, to its language and culture, and to build goodwill between Chinese and American students. Hanban is the organization that also sponsors the Confucius Classroom program at St. Mary's School and has brought our Chinese teachers to southern Oregon.
When do I hear more?
In February of 2013, there will be more information forthcoming and we will begin the application process. Once the final group of travelers is determined, there will be meetings with details about currency exchange, packing, communications, passport and visas, and so on. If you are strongly considering going and do not have a passport, getting one this fall would be a good move. For students with current passports, check to be sure they do not expire before February of 2014 (yes, 2014, not a typo).
