St. Mary's Leadership & Legacy

Introducing Ryan F. Bernard, President of St. Mary's School

A proven leader in private education, Ryan Bernard is the 43rd director of St. Mary's School. With nearly 25 years of experience, Ryan has served as Vice Principal of the High School since 2015, where he has helped create innovative academic programs. Mr. Bernard took over for former president Frank Phillips on July 1, 2022.
"My father told me that I shouldn’t refer to my career as a job, and if I did, I ought to look for another. I should seek a vocation, he said, a true calling. That certainly is what St. Mary’s is to me."

As a current parent, and with more than a decade of involvement at St. Mary's School, Board Chair Adam Peterson is pleased to share the announcement of succession. He reflects with gratitude on Frank Phillips' years of service and looks with confidence toward St. Mary's next era under the leadership of Ryan Bernard.

Frank Phillips' 33 years of dedication made St. Mary's School what it is today. His brilliant and compassionate leadership has inspired innumerable staff members and changed the lives of countless students.  After unparalleled service to the school, Phillips was named President Emeritus on July 1, 2022.
