Ms. Anita C. Cooper holds a Masters of Education in Special Education, Masters in Fine Arts, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre. Over the past 20+ years, she has used these education accomplishments to teach a variety of subjects (drama, reading, math, English, etc.…) and grade levels in various states throughout the US, such as Alabama, Florida, California and Georgia. Her teaching experience reached beyond the States when she was offered a position at an elementary school in Shenzhen, China for the 2015 school year. Capitalizing on the opportunity, she accepted another position in Shunde, China where she continued teaching English to elementary students for the next 4 years. During that time, Anita displayed an additional strength in management and leadership and earned the role of Academic Dean of her elementary school program in 2018.

Over the years, Anita has strived to be a person that educates and inspires individuals on how to rise to and above any challenge that comes their way as she believes that, no matter the circumstance, there is always a beacon of light, a strength, that can be found and nurtured. Furthermore, she believes that every student should be given the opportunity to obtain a higher degree of self-sufficiency and personal and academic success. And that the ability and opportunity to instruct any student in any subject, is a gift and a privilege that should not be taken lightly. She will continue her mission to educate and enlighten as many individuals as possible as she continues the dual role of teacher and Academic Dean at a high school in Guiyang.

I earned my Bachelors Degree at the University of Wisconsin in Secondary Education and Broad Area Social Studies.  I have a teaching license from the State of Minnesota and currently finishing my Advanced Placement (AP) Certification.  I have been teaching for nearly 20 years in public schools in Minnesota as well as International Schools in Europe, South Korea, and the past few years in China.  I have enjoyed teaching in China as I am able to challenge my students and each time they rise to the challenge!
My main philosophy when teaching is to improve reading, writing and speaking skills not only through daily assignments but also projects and group work.  The students also learn effective note-taking and using technology to assist in research and vocabulary development.  I also encourage students to read English books outside of the classroom, a great way to improve in all areas of English.  I look forward to teaching in Guiyang and developing a strong rapport with the High School Students.
