What made this year truly special wasn’t just the financial support, but the genuine relationship our students built with Deisy and her family.
As the school year draws to a close, we pause to reflect with deep gratitude on the incredible work of our Sparrow Club and the powerful impact our community has had on one very special family.
This year, St. Mary’s students, staff, and families came together to support Deisy, our 2024-25 Sparrow, through a year filled with service, compassion, and heartfelt connection. St. Mary's Sparrow Club provides students the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the life of a local child facing serious medical challenges—and this year, they embraced that mission with inspiring dedication. Over 500 Hours of Love in Action
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors,Dave and Janice Mills, the over 500 hours of community service logged by St. Mary’s students unlocked vital financial support for Deisy and her family. These hours represent more than just time—they represent the spirit of empathy and service that defines the heart of our school.
Acts of Kindness Throughout the Year
Throughout the year, our Sparrow Club and extended school community found creative and meaningful ways to lift up Deisy and her family:
Thanksgiving Basket filled with treats, groceries, and gift cards.
Christmas gifts lovingly selected and beautifully wrapped, funded through a Middle School Bake Sale and Candy Gram fundraiser.
🎶Christmas at the Carrico – a celebration Deisy and her family joined, sharing in the joy of the season with our community.
Soda Bar Fundraiser and generous donations from the St. Mary’s family raised over $2,200 to directly support the family.
Summer Treat Bag and a handmade crochet blanket gifted by one of our caring staff members, offering both comfort and joy.
The Recycling Club stepped up in a big way, collecting cans and bottles and donating $500 to Deisy’s family at year’s end.
More Than Support—A Connection
What made this year truly special wasn’t just the financial support, but the genuine relationship our students built with Deisy and her family. From prayers and kind messages to shared celebrations and personal gestures of care, this connection has been rooted in love and mutual respect.
Thank You
To every student who gave their time, to every family who donated, and to every staff member who supported this mission—thank you. Your collective effort has not only helped a family in need, but also strengthened the culture of compassion that makes St. Mary’s such a special place.
To our Sparrow, Deisy: thank you for allowing us to walk with you this year. You have taught us so much about resilience, kindness, and the power of community.
We close the year full of gratitude—and excited for the lives we’ll continue to touch together through Sparrow Club next year.
