Coach Mason Teagle's passion for swimming started fter a string of concussions, sprains, and breaks. He was volunteered by his parents to take up a summer sport at the local YMCA. Swimming was an easy pick due to its noncontact nature. Considering most of his peers started by age eight, he had to rely on technique to catch up. He developed a proficiency in all four strokes: backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle. In high school, he was a consistent point builder in the individual medley, and in his junior year, Teagle was given the “Caveman” award for inspiring a passionate culture for the competitive edge. Following his 2018 graduation, Teagle went on to attend Southwestern Oregon, competing at the collegiate level and attending nationals in Buffalo, New York. He returned to his old club team to head coach, spanning from 2019 until joining St. Mary’s coaching staff in 2022.
