As the school year drew to a close, St. Mary's students and faculty gathered for the annual Spring Recognition Assembly, a celebration of the achievements, character, and contributions that have defined another remarkable year on campus.
While the ceremony recognized outstanding students from every academic department, it also served as a reflection on the many ways the St. Mary's community has grown together over the past year.
Faculty highlighted the accomplishments of the Class of 2026, whose 64 graduates achieved a 100% college acceptance rate, submitting 637 applications to 187 universities across the globe. Among the class are a National Merit Scholar, a future Stanford student, and three student-athletes continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
Students were also recognized for their commitment to serving others and caring for creation. Campus sustainability efforts led by the Changemakers class and Sustainability Committee dramatically reduced food waste, expanded recycling efforts, and created new partnerships benefiting the local community. Project WILD students explored Oregon's outdoors through hiking, rafting, skiing, climbing, and camping adventures while helping restore the Larsen Creek ecosystem on campus.
The arts and humanities were equally well represented. Students earned local and national recognition in visual arts, creative writing, and debate, while language students continued St. Mary's tradition of global citizenship by earning the Oregon State Seal of Biliteracy and participating in immersive educational exchanges in China and Argentina.
The assembly also celebrated the everyday acts that often go unseen but define the culture of the school. This year, students contributed more than 6,500 hours of community service, tutored classmates and younger students, expanded the library collection, and demonstrated integrity through countless acts of kindness—from returning lost valuables to quietly caring for the campus and one another.
In remarks to the student body, faculty reminded students that recognition extends beyond grades alone. Curiosity, perseverance, improvement, citizenship, and a willingness to engage deeply in learning are equally worthy of celebration and reflect the values of St. Mary's: dedicated scholars, creative thinkers, responsible community members, global citizens, and joyful spirits.
Congratulations to all of the students recognized during this year's Spring Recognition Assembly. Their accomplishments—and the many contributions made by students across campus—are a testament to the vibrant and supportive community that has defined St. Mary's for more than 160 years.
